Tuesday, August 25

Three minutes. That is the whole ask.

Council decides whether to renew the plate camera contract. On August 11 the chamber filled and the town had to open a third-floor overflow room, and an item came off the consent agenda that night. A full room is the only thing that has worked so far.

On August 11 the chamber filled and the town opened an overflow room. That is the only thing that has moved this Council so far.
First name and neighbourhood only. No email, no address, nothing shared with anyone, and you can leave the neighbourhood blank. We keep this list so people can see they are not the only one showing up.

Now let us write your three minutes

The most common reason people do not speak is not knowing what to say. Answer three questions and this page writes it for you, with a real record attached so nobody can wave it off. Edit it into your own words. Read it off your phone. That is allowed.

1. What bothers you most?
2. Who are you speaking as?
3. What are you asking Council to do?
Reading it out loud is fine. Nobody at that podium is judging your delivery. Say your name, say you live in Apex, say your piece, sit down. Three minutes is longer than it sounds, so if you finish in ninety seconds that is a win, not a failure.

What actually happens when you get there

  1. Arrive a few minutes before 6:00. Apex Town Hall, 73 Hunter Street.
  2. There is a sign-up sheet for public comment near the entrance. Put your name on it. You can also just watch.
  3. When the Mayor calls you, walk to the podium, say your name and that you are an Apex resident.
  4. Say your three minutes. Reading from your phone or a piece of paper is completely normal.
  5. Sit down. You are done. You do not have to answer questions and there is no debate.

If you cannot make it, the next best thing takes two minutes: email all of Council with the pre-written message, then send this page to one neighbour. One person bringing one neighbour is how a chamber fills.

DeFlock Apex is a resident-led project. Every claim in the generated comment comes from records the Town produced. See the records · contact@deflockapex.org
